We're excited to share the key takeaways from the ID4D and G2Px Annual Report 2024-25, marking a pivotal moment in global development.
The most significant trend is the fundamental shift: the world is moving beyond foundational projects in Identity (#ID4D) and Digital Payments (#G2Px) to embrace Digital Public Infrastructure (#DPI) at large 💡

🌍 DPI Takes Center Stage (The Big Picture):
What's New: The World Bank Group launched a new global DPI Program in 2025. The focus is no longer just on the tech components, but on holistic ecosystem enablers—including governance, legal frameworks, cybersecurity, and trust services—to ensure DPI is safe, inclusive, and effective.
🆔 ID4D (Next-Generation Identity):
What's New: While the global ID gap is closing, major challenges persist: 850 million people still lack an official ID, and 3.3 billion lack a digital ID for online services. Our work is pivoting towards user-centric, next-generation ID solutions like Verifiable Credentials (VCs) and digital wallets, giving individuals more control and privacy over their data.
💳 G2Px (Digital Payments that Empower):
What's New: Digital G2P payments are now the preferred method for a majority of recipients and serve as a crucial entry point for financial inclusion, especially for women.The focus is now on tackling the remaining disparities, ensuring accessibility for vulnerable groups (older adults, those in rural areas) and promoting women's digital literacy and economic agency.
